Who does God say you are?
Lauren Daigle, an American contemporary Christian music singer, and songwriter who released the song "You Say" in July 2018, eloquently explores the struggle between our thoughts and the word of God.
A beautifully and carefully crafted piece that unfolds the continuous battle between our self-esteem and our God-given identity.
I'm yet to meet anyone who "has it all together" and "has it all figured out".
At some point in life, we have all heard the voices of insecurity and disbelief lingering at the back of our mind.
The internal voices that question your worth, your identity and your purpose.
The voices that question your capabilities as a person, your intelligence as a student and even your worth as a Christian.
These voices can echo at any time; during your greatest triumphs and in your greatest despair.
However, it is comforting to know that even in the presence of the voices, there is a voice that echos far beyond your loudest critic.
The voice of God!
A voice that dispels every lie, every myth and every insecurity that lurks within you.
The voice of God, through His word, tells us that we are His beloved.
We are His workmanship, His most prized creation (Ephesians 2:10).
In John 3:16, His love for us goes to the extent of giving up His only son, Jesus to die for you for the redemption of your sin.
That proves your worth!
In Jeremiah 1:5, He says that "before I formed you in the womb I knew you before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
That proves your identity!
In 1 Peter 2:9, He declares that "you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light"
That proves your purpose!
So, next time you hear the voices of insecurity creeping up on you, telling you anything contrary to the word of God; call them to silence!
Remember these 3 scriptures; simple yet true reminders of the extent to which God values you.
